The opioid crisis has continued to plague communities across Michigan and Washtenaw County is not exempt. Ken has a strategy, it's been given the acronym P.E.T.E.R: Prevention, Enforcement, Treatment, Education, and Recovery.
The current Sheriff’s administration has seen a sharp decline in the level of transparency that is expected from a public official and police officer. As a political outsider, Ken brings a new vision of what can be expected from the Sheriff’s office.
Social and racial demographics in the US, and in Washtenaw County, are shifting. Ken believes that law enforcement should be representative of the community it serves and thus, the Washtenaw Sheriff's Department must adapt modern policing techniques.
Ken is committed to eradicating violence in our community. The violence comes in two main forms: Domestic Violence and Gun Violence. The current strategy hasn't worked and we have only seen the problem grow.
Ken pledges to allocate resources toward the creation of a county-wide, multi-agency task force dedicated to identifying and locating runaways, homeless teenagers, and endangered youth.
Issuing traffic tickets with large fines does little to protect our safety. However, it does financially harm our citizens, especially those who are economically disadvantaged.
